Home Stretch

I don't know about anyone else, but watching Olympic hockey has certainly made me quite excited for the NHL to resume play on March 1st. The Olympic break has been a welcomed one for the Avalanche. The Avs have used the time to get healthy. Adam Foote, Kyle Cumiskey, and Milan Hejduk are all expected back in the lineup when the Avs get back on the ice Monday against the Red Wings.

The only challenge will be seamlessly integrating Hejduk back in the lineup. It is probably gonna take some line shuffling, Brandon Yip figures to be one of the players shifted around. His production has been a great surprise for the Avalanche, and in my opinion it would be in the team's best interest to give the young Yip plenty of opportunities to put the puck in the net. Regardless, it is a good problem to have. I trust coach Sacco to make it all work, as he has done all season long.

The Avalanche is in prime position for a playoff push, they are contending in the division and figure to be right in the mix on the final days of the season. It should be an exciting couple of months.
